Sauron

We received a call early March regarding a very nervous stray cat in Hertford that a family had been feeding for a number of months, who had returned with an horrific injury to one of his eyes.

Despite the snowy weather, Glenn, our welfare officer took a trap over and caught the cat, taking him straight to our vets.

The vets had hoped that they could save the eye by removing the dead tissue; however, despite their best efforts, it had to be removed..

Sauron, as he has now been named by his fosterer, is comfortable and eating and drinking well in his foster home.

This, as any other invasive operation, has proved costly for the branch and any donations towards the veterinary costs would be gratefully received. You can donate on www.justgiving.com/whcp1. Any money received over and above the vet bills for Sauron’s operation will be used towards other veterinary costs of the branch.

Sauron arrived as an entire male and with no microchip. Had he have been neutered he may not have wandered and become lost, and indeed may not have received the injury to his eye, which most likely happened from fighting with another cat.

We are still offering neutering vouchers to those that need them. Do email the branch on snipwelhat@gmail.com if you require a voucher.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support.
